Sarah Mohr assumed the position as Director of Nursing at Norton County Hospital in September of 2023.
Mohr was raised in Hays, Kansas, where she attended Fort Hays State University. She has worked supervisory-level jobs in both the hospitality industry for Holiday Inn and in customer service/technical support for DirecTV prior to her entry into the field of healthcare. She entered the medical field as a pharmacy technician for Walgreens pharmacy and then became a lactation counselor for the Women, Infants, and Children’s Program in Spokane, Washington. During her time working at Spokane Regional Health District, Mohr developed and implemented breastfeeding classes and support groups targeted to lower-income populations to promote healthy community outcomes.
Upon moving back to Kansas, Mohr received her Certified Nurse Assistant certification and worked as a CNA for Via Christi Village in Hays, then entered into and graduated from the ADN program at Colby Community College. She then began working at Norton County Hospital as a Registered Nurse in October 2017, and she served in several capacities during her time at NCH including charge nurse and night pharmacy nurse. Upon leaving her full-time status at NCH in September 2022, Mohr accepted a contract with another regional hospital, where she worked as a charge nurse and in ER/Medical/Surgical positions, and assisted in training and developing newly hired Registered Nurses
Mohr resides on a farm in northeastern Decatur County with her husband, Richard Huff, and their four teenage daughters. In addition to her interests in healthcare, she has a passion for children’s educational rights, specifically in the area of deaf education. Mohr has testified at State House and Senate subcommittee hearings to advocate for the rights of deaf children, and she currently sits as an advisor on the stakeholder committee for the state’s Language Assessment Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students.
