Laboratory Tech (MT or MLT) — Full Time, Part Time or PRN⬇️

Norton County Hospital has a full-time, part-time or PRN employment opportunity for a Lab Tech in our Laboratory department. Applicant should be an MT, MLS or MLT with an ASCP certification or eligible for certification. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Normal full-time schedule is 40 hours per week with rotating on-call schedule for nights, weekends and holidays. Part-time or PRN hours will vary. Applicant must be organized, detail-oriented, have excellent communication, customer service and computer skills, and be able to multi-task.

Full-time benefit package includes paid time off (PTO); health insurance; and KPERS retirement, life insurance and disability. Benefits for part-time position will depend on hours worked per week.

Occupational Therapist — Part Time or Full Time⬇️

Norton County Hospital has an immediate opening for an Occupational Therapist in our Rehabilitation department. Contact Human Resources for hiring incentives. Applicant must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program and have current or obtain Kansas licensure prior to start date. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing all inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy evaluations and treatments and will manage their own caseload. This position could be either part time or full time for the candidate who is self-driven and motivated to build the OT program. This position will have varying hours Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays.

Acute Care Manager — Full Time⬇️

Norton County Hospital has a career opportunity for an Acute Care Manager. Applicant must have strong communication, organization, and computer skills. An RN in the state of Kansas with at least five(5) years of nursing experience and one(1) year of supervisory experience is preferred. Previous experience in an acute care hospital is preferred. The position is full-time with office hours typically Monday-Friday, with some required on-call time. Applicant must be able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides positive leadership by promoting an environment of teamwork, open communication and customer service
  • Promotes high standards of care for each patient
  • Communicates professionally across all levels of the organization, including with patients and family members
  • Coaches nursing staff to reach their fullest potential
  • Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, and other departments
  • Delegates and directs the delivery of nursing services for the acute care floor and emergency department
  • Maintains organizational and operational flow of the acute care department
  • Schedules staff and maintains call and holiday rotating schedules to ensure appropriate patient care
  • Responsible for review, correction, additions, and approval of payroll information for direct reports by payroll deadlines
  • Daily satisfaction rounding on patients
  • Provide direct patient care to assist staff
  • Implements training programs as directed by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) or Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Coordinator and maintains documentation of such efforts
  • Conducts and documents monthly nursing meetings
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding nursing staff
  • Ensures proper maintenance of equipment, submits recommendations for new equipment, and documents training of staff on utilization of new equipment
  • Maintains familiarity with all relevant emergency management policies and procedures; participates in drills and post-event debriefings and provides constructive input to improve the processes
  • Requires flexibility, independent thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates ability to initiate and develop special projects
  • Implements procedures and training on new policies or equipment in conjunction with CNO/QAPI Coordinator
  • Oversees departmental budget

Medical Laboratory Manager – Full Time⬇️

Norton County Hospital has a full-time career opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Manager. Laboratory Manager is responsible for all operations and compliance of the hospital’s laboratory, assuring high quality services are provided to patients and medical staff at all times. Applicant should be caring, committed, and motivated to provide quality patient care with excellent communication and computer skills. This position participates in the on-call coverage schedule to provide 24/7 care for our patients.

Qualifications for this position:

  • Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by a recognized accrediting agency (ASCP, AMT, etc.) with a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting with 1 year as a manager
  • MLT with a Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field may be considered

Some of the primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assures the laboratory meets all COLA/CLIA requirements
  • Trains, supervises and evaluates performance of lab staff; enforcing safety procedures
  • Evaluates quality control and modifies manuals and policies as needed
  • Develops budget for the laboratory and maintains control of lab costs
  • Prepares monthly statistics and quality assurance data
  • Collaborates with other departments to provide quality and efficient patient care
  • Plans work load distribution and makes schedules
  • Supervises purchase of supplies and maintains equipment inventory
  • Receives specimens for lab or obtains specimens directly from patient and makes quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses
  • Performs chemical, biological and microscopic tests to provide data for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease

Cook I - Day Shift, Full/Part Time⬇️

Norton County Hospital has a full or part time employment opportunity for a Daytime Cook. Regular shift hours are 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, 3 to 4 days per week with alternating weekends and holidays. On-the-job training is available for this position, previous experience preferred but not required.

The cook in the Dietary Department is responsible for handling and preparing foods in accordance with sanitary regulations and to preserve nutritive value. The cook will see that the food prepared is palatable and appetizing in appearance. Must meet schedules, avoid food waste, and care for equipment.

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Preparing foodstuffs for cooking according to menu plan and diet modifications
  • Preparing foods according to recipes
  • Personal judgement and experience must be employed
  • Plans cooking schedule to have food ready on time
  • Cooks the food properly
  • Prepares servings according to requirements
  • Assists in setting up and filling trays and steam table
  • Be responsible for cleaning work in kitchen area
  • May do general cleaning work in kitchen area
  • Serves patients, personnel and special guests
  • Be able to learn to modify diets and have workable knowledge of all diets
  • Checks supplies one day ahead to be sure everything needed for the next day’s meals are on hand
  • Provides coverage during weekend, night, and holiday shifts
  • Will perform other duties as requested by Supervisor

Housekeeping & Laundry - Full Time or Part Time⬇️

Norton County Hospital has a full time or part time employment opportunity in our Environmental Services department. Environmental Services staff are responsible for cleaning all areas of the hospital, clinic and facilities. The full time position is scheduled 8 hour shifts and has rotating weekend and holiday schedules which include differential pay. Full time position may have the opportunity to train in laundry as well. Most shifts are 6:30am to 3:00pm. Part time shifts will vary. Benefit package includes paid time off (PTO), health insurance, and KPERS retirement, life insurance, and disability. Part time may qualify for some benefits depending on hours.
