Annual Wellness⬇️

Blood Pressure Screening

-Blood pressure screenings are recommended annually for adults, and are part of your annual wellness exam. More frequent screenings are reccomended if you have risk factors such as a family history of hypertension or existing cardiovascular conditions. Regular monitoring is vital because high blood pressure typically has no symptoms but can lead to serious issues such as heart disease or stroke. Early detection allows us to manage and reduce your risk, promoting a healthier, more vibrant life. Regular monitoring helps in early detection and management, reducing risks and promoting better health.
If your systolic blood pressure (the top number) is between 130-139 mm Hg or your diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) is between 80-89 mm Hg, it’s considered stage 1 hypertension. Readings above these ranges indicate stage 2 hypertension.
If you are having concerns about your blood pressure, be sure to record your blood pressure numbers and bring them to your appointment to discuss with your provider. They will guide you on managing and reducing your blood pressure effectively.

Eye Exam

-Keep your vision sharp and your eyes healthy with regular exams! Before age 40, get checked every 5 to 10 years. If you have vision issues, aim for every 2 years or as recommended. Diabetic? Don’t miss an annual retina exam. For comprehensive care, including tests for vision clarity, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, visit your trusted optometrist.

Hearing Test

- During your wellness exam, we provide professional hearing tests to ensure your auditory health. Hearing tests are recommended if you notice changes in your hearing, have difficulty understanding conversations, or are exposed to loud noises regularly. Early detection of hearing issues is crucial because it can prevent further hearing loss and improve your quality of life. By identifying problems early, we can offer effective solutions and support to maintain your hearing health.

Pelvic Exam

-We're committed to your reproductive health by offering comprehensive pelvic exams. Recommended annually for women starting at age 21—or sooner if you are sexually active or have symptoms—these exams are key for early detection of issues like infections, growths, and reproductive disorders. Proactive care helps prevent serious conditions and ensures timely treatment. Regular visits, including Pap tests and assessments before procedures like IUD insertion, are essential for diagnosing and monitoring your reproductive well-being. We also offer in-depth OB/GYN services through our Specialty Clinic twice a month for comprehensive care.

Skin Exam

-Annual skin exams are crucial for women’s health as they play a key role in the early detection of skin cancer, the most common cancer in the U.S. Early detection leads to better treatment outcomes and increased survival rates. Regular skin exams by a dermatologist can catch precancerous lesions before they become cancerous, monitor changes in your skin that reflect overall health, and address the increased risk associated with aging skin, sun exposure, and family history. Melanoma, in particular, can be life-threatening if not treated early, often appearing in hard-to-see areas like the back or legs. At Norton Medical Clinic, our providers can assess any concerns during your wellness visit, and we have a dermatologist who visits our Specialty Clinic monthly for more in-depth evaluations.

Ovarian and Cervical Screenings

- Cervical and ovarian cancer screenings are essential for early detection and prevention. For women aged 21 to 65, regular screenings significantly reduce the risk of cervical cancer. The Women's Preventive Services Initiative recommends a Pap test every 3 years for those aged 21 to 29, while women aged 30 to 65 should be screened every 5 years with both Pap and HPV testing or every 3 years with Pap alone. Ovarian cancer screenings are crucial for women with risk factors or family histories, as early detection through pelvic exams and imaging can improve outcomes.
