Announcement: NMC Expands Options for Patients

Norton Medical Clinic makes adjustments to accommodate more patients

March 25, 2021

Dr. Glenda Maurer recently rejoined Norton Medical Clinic to specifically see patients with acute medical needs. Dr. Maurer is typically in the clinic Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. so that more patients with acute needs may been seen and treated.

In most cases, scheduling an acute visit would be appropriate for a short-term illness or condition. Typically acute health care needs are those that should be addressed by a medical provider within 24-48 hours. Examples of reasons for acute visits may include, but are not limited to, the following:

As always, patients should use their best judgment and go directly to the Emergency department for severe conditions that need immediate medical attention.

Adding the option for same-day acute visits in the Norton Medical Clinic is a benefit to patients, because there are times when providers are completely booked with appointments in a typical day. Dr. Maurer's role allows for more spots to be open in case providers are booked and patients call the clinic seeking care that particular day. Patients are being asked to transition their primary care to one of the other providers at the clinic, and this allows Dr. Maurer to fulfill her new responsibilities.

We are thrilled that our team has developed a solution to improve patient experiences and outcomes in our medical clinic.
