Norton County Hospital to host Medicare counseling

NORTON, Kan. – Norton County Hospital welcomes Medicare patients and others who are interested to attend a free informational session “Welcome to Medicare” about Medicare basics, supplement plans and open enrollment. The session will take place Tuesday, Sept. 25 th from 2 to 4 p.m. in the hospital’s conference room, which is located on the lower level. Attendees are encouraged to park in the Norton Medical Clinic lot and look for signs to direct them to the meeting location.

This informational session is intended to help Medicare patients and answer their questions ahead of the Medicare open enrollment period, which begins on Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7 for a Jan. 1, 2019 coverage effective date.

Leading the discussion and answering questions will be Glenna Clingingsmith, a representative from the Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging. Also present to assist will be Melody DeWitt from Norton County Hospital, who is SHICK (Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas) certified. Medicare patients may also wish to sign up for individual appointments, which will take place on Thursday, Oct. 18th at the hospital. These individual appointments will allow time to enroll in Part D and will begin at 9 a.m. If you are interested in scheduling an individual appointment, you may do so at the public event on Sept. 25th or call Melody at Norton County Hospital at 785-877-3351.
